"This estate's 2018 Gigondas Tradition is a hit, and those who like spicy, more complex and unmistakably Provençal wines should snap it up. Revealing a translucent ruby color as well as an incredibly fragrant nose of kirsch, Provençal herbs, orange blossom, potpourri and spices, this marvel strikes the palate with more medium-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant texture and a big finish. It has a seductive, complex and elegant character that will evolve gracefully for a good decade." (Jeb Dunnuck 2020). A seductive red!

Moulin de la Gardette
Gigondas
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated (2022 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
One of the "must-haves" of Gigondas, Moulin de la Gardette and its ten hectares are a charming estate, carefully managed by Jean-Baptiste Meunier. Between the terroirs of Saint-Jean and the Gardette hillside, the old Grenache vines capture the finesse of the limestone marls. There's no showboating in the cellar, and the owner has perfect control over the use of wood. For several vintages now, the estate's cuvées have been remarkably natural, with a silky texture and integrated tannins.

About the wine:
The 2018 Gigondas Tradition is the estate's main achievement, a blend of 80% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre and Syrah respectively, aged in a mix of foudres and demi-muids. It's slightly pale in color but perfumed with charming nuances of herbs, rose petals, red cherries and orange zest. It has body and charm, with silky, seductive tannins and a long, peppery finish. It should drink well into its first decade.

Domaine rated (2022 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
Aromatic freshness; the whole harvest is a little more distinctive with its pepperoni character. This is not a hindrance, however, as the fruit is nuanced by a hint of herbs, and delivers itself with great freshness. The palate is sapid, with a fine, elegant texture.
About the domain :
This Gigondas estate has long been one of the appellation's best-known names. It has been run by Jean-Baptiste Meunier since 1990, and comprises 10 hectares divided into 25 parcels, situated between 100 and 330 meters above sea level, where the vines reach an average age of 50 years.

About the wine:
Tasted blind. Pinot-like red fruit with great delicacy and vivacity. For a heavy wine, it has excellent balance. The fruit fades rather quickly, but it has wonderful purity and an outgoing violet character that adds complexity.
