A complex Lirac combining freshness and smoothness, with a ruby-red color and violet tints. A nose of red fruit such as cherry and morello cherry. After a full, firm attack, the palate expresses nuances of spice and supple tannins that persist right through to the finish. A rich wine with excellent length.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 13/09/2024
Serious and solidly built, this Lirac by Lafond distills even more richness and juicy flavors of ripe fruit than before (cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry), complemented by subtle spices and hints of vanilla and balsamic left by the new barrel. Fleshy, slightly compact, the tannins are nonetheless exceptional in their velvety tenderness, combined with a restrained acidity that gives a beautiful relief and a certain dynamism to a full, deep and greedy palate. A complementary touch of pepper comes through on the brilliant finish. Reasonably priced. A good terroir wine that manages to overcome its tannic character, it can be left in the bottle for another year before being enjoyed with fine red meats or gamey dishes, such as civet of wild rabbit with old-fashioned red wine and chanterelle mushrooms. Score = 4.1.
