In conversation with Jérôme Bressy, an erudite and fascinating man, we enjoy listening to his knowledge, rich in the tricks of the old hands, the ancestral practices that have given birth to the great wines of the Vaucluse. Attentive to his terroir and the ampelographic diversity of his vines, he is a rare artisan in the winegrowing landscape. His igp vaucluse wines are exceptional, true blotters of the Rasteau terroir, tracings of old varieties treated with respect and care. In the cellar, patience and experience go hand in hand with time to produce some of the finest vintages in the Southern Rhône Valley. With each vintage, he raises his standards to achieve tangible perfection. Once again, he has demonstrated this this year.

About the wine:

Stunning with its aromas of blackberry, licorice, smoke, chocolate and hints of leather, the 2009 Rasteau is a blend of Grenache and other grape varieties, aged in a combination of demi-muid, foudre and concrete vats. It has full-bodied power, massive tannins, but remains soft, with richness and great depth. Drink over the decade or more.
