Château de Péna

Château de Péna
In 1942, in the heart of Roussillon, the winegrowers of Cases de Pène decided to join forces to offer the quintessential wines of the region. Since then, around twenty of them have worked 320 hectares, 90% of which are PDO, on behalf of the local cooperative winery, named after the château overlooking the village: Château de Péna. Thanks to their grape varieties grown on small plots and low yields, they produce Côtes-du-Roussillon, Côtes Catalanes and Vins Doux Naturels.

Château de Péna - Côtes du Roussillon Regards de Femmes 2023

2*Étoiles Hachette

floral
mineral
ceviche

"A very nice white (Hachette)".

"A "solidarity" cuvée made from a blend (macabeu, grenache blanc, viognier) chosen by a jury of 80 women. In the glass, a very pretty floral, fruity and mineral white, offering liveliness, volume, great length and very assured balance. Serve with ceviche or grilled octopus". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

Château de Péna - Muscat de Rivesaltes

3*Coup de Coeur Hachette

muscat
freshness
vin doux naturel

"A superb freshness that stretches the finish (Hachette)".

"A lovely, deep yellow with golden highlights, this high-expression Muscat opens unreservedly with scents of honey, white peach and citrus fruit (orange, mandarin). A frank, dynamic attack preludes an ample, long and intense palate, centered on yellow fruit and orange peel, supported by superb freshness that stretches out the finish. A Grand Marnier-glazed soufflé would be a temptation". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

Château de Péna - Rivesaltes Tuilé Hors d'Age

2*Étoiles Hachette

rancio
walnut dessert
vin doux naturel
solera

"Remarkable length and dried fruit flavors conferred by the rancio (Hachette)".

"Aged for several years (over 5 years for Hors d'âge) in an oxidative environment using the solera technique, where the older wine "educates" the younger wines, this Grenache is presented in a very dark mahogany tile. The nose is superb: roasting, spices, dried figs, wax notes from the old foudres, dried fruits from the rancio. Continuing with notes of coffee and walnut, the palate is powerful, rich, coated, full-bodied, well-supported by a fresh hint of volatility, with the added bonus of a remarkable length on dried fruits conferred by the rancio". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)
