Domain Grier
Renowned producers of sparkling wines in Stellenbosch, South Africa - using the Cap Classic method, the Grier family created the Domain Grier in the heart of the Agly Valley in 2006.

The Domain Grier vineyard covers 22 hectares in a single block. In order to vinify their own grapes and produce quality wines, the Grier family acquired a 19th-century stone cellar.

Halfway between the New World and Roussillon, Domain Grier produces white wines from Maccabeu and Chardonnay, reds from Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, and an effervescent in keeping with Grier know-how.

1*Étoile Hachette

"The upper Agly valley and its black, schistose soils bring finesse and elegance to the wines, while preserving volume and substance, provided they are vinified with mastery. This cuvée is a good example, offering the liquorice finesse of syrah, the gentle roundness of grenache and the elegance of carignan. Carignan, the much-maligned grape variety, serves here as both support and foil for the team. Aromas? The ageing contributes to the palette, which combines cherry brandy, undergrowth and a touch of cocoa". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

2*Étoiles Hachette

"The schistose marls of the Fenouillèdes region are ideal for Grenache Noir. This wine has a ruby-red color with black moiré highlights. After an initial nose of fresh red berries (cherry), aeration reveals notes of black fruit with a hint of pepper. These red fruits are found again in a well-constructed, silky, structured and long palate". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

3*Étoile Hachette

"Made from the Grenache-Syrah-Carignan trilogy, which thrives on the black soils of the upper Agly valley, this 2012, aged for a year in barrel, delighted the judges, who emphasized the complexity of its palette, where spices, cocoa and vanilla blend perfectly with the ripe, liquorice fruit of the Syrah and the very Grenache cherry. On the palate, it adds a touch of toast, combining volume, fine tannins and fresh minerality - the mark of the terroir". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2016)

3*Étoile Hachette

"This rosé of grenache (70%) and carignan made a strong impression. Attractive in its pink-gray color, it reveals a complex, elegant and powerful nose of pear, mirabelle plum, apple, peach... This complexity is extended by a palate full of assurance and balance: plenty of volume, soft, tender flesh, and a remarkable freshness reminiscent of the high altitude terroirs that gave birth to this wine with its strong personality. The coup de coeur was put to the vote". (Le Guide Hachette des Rosés 2016-2017)
