"Memories, memories..."
"A long 18-month ageing period in demi-muids, followed by two years' rest in the bottle for this intense Caramany, which opens unreservedly with red fruit (cherry, strawberry) enhanced by a hint of leather. The attack is fresh and fine, the development full, round and delicate, around red fruits and melted tannins. Excellent balance and cellaring potential". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 90/100
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
Full-bodied, pleasant and fleshy on the palate, with rounded tannins and an elegant, precise finish.
About the domain :
Philippe Modat compensated for the ungratefulness of his job as a clerk at the Commercial Court by breathing new life into his wild gneiss lands in Caramany, with the help of his indefatigable steward Laurent Abet. Today, his sons Quentin and Louis have taken over, with many projects in mind. Irreproachable viticulture, respectful vinification, range building: everything is in place to help the estate grow and evolve. Promising wines, a cellar full of ideas, and a welcome wind of youth blowing through an appellation that needs it more than ever.

About the domain :
Of Catalan origin, Philippe Modat, a magistrate, is an enlightened wine enthusiast like his father, who also became a winemaker. In 2006, this passion led to the creation of an estate in the Agly valley: 27 hectares of vines on a plateau at an altitude of 300 m, in organic conversion since 2011 (8 hectares in biodynamic viticulture) and an ecologically designed cellar, equipped with photovoltaic cells, inaugurated in 2008.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 25/01/2024
New Favorite for this Roussillon gem, featuring a dapper Carignan with a seductive touch. Following in the footsteps of the previous vintage, "Comme Avant" 2018 reveals itself to be complete, spherical and complex, with melted, tender, caressing tannins and a core of fruitiness of unparalleled intensity, with juicy, bright red berries and sweet spices alongside herbaceous notes and nuances of zan and vanilla. Carried by a fine minerality, it provides a very pleasant sensation, coating the palate with a voluptuous, satiny fabric of extremely delicate grain. Its skilful ageing gives it a remarkable persistence of minty freshness, enveloped in salivating aromas. This refined cuvée sublimated a grilled lamb brochettes marinated in spices, cocktail tomatoes with candied herbs and roasted red and yellow peppers. Score = 4.3.
