Pulp and freshness punctuate this fine, slender red, carried by spices. A great classic from the estate, it is a wine of great consistency with each vintage. Notes of ripe fruit are complemented by a lovely freshness that makes this cuvée easy to drink. An initiation rite!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 15/20 (Vintage 2013) (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
The Magnin couple are among the emblematic figures of the Savoyard vineyards. These two hard-working vineyard enthusiasts, who have been certified organic since 2012, have decided to reduce the estate to three hectares from the 2018 harvest. A short range indeed, but in white as in red, the wines are a thing of beauty.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
This traditional estate has played a key role in the contemporary history of Savoyard vineyards. Although the surface area has shrunk, Louis Magnin's meticulous work in both vineyard and winery has enabled him to achieve the highest levels of expression in both red and white wines. A perfectionist, he demonstrates a consistency through his different vintages that few producers in this region can match. Less opulent than in the past, the whites emphasize mineral intensity. Among the mondeuses, flamboyant but destined for ageing, we continue to prefer (often, but not this year!) vat-aged cuvées to those aged in barrels.

Not bad, reminiscent of the syrah from which Mondeuse is said to originate. Very rustic, which goes perfectly with a charcuterie starter or a simple steak.
