"It sports vibrant aromas of black cherry and blueberry, as well as baking spice notes and a pronounced licorice note. It's medium- to full-bodied, with a rich, velvety, slightly tannic feel and lingering notes of anise and black fruits on the finish." (Wine Advocate 2020 - Joe Czerwinski)

Château Lagrézette
Cahors
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 15/20 (Very good wine)
Domain rated 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Gourmand with its chocolate and dark fruit flavours, round, pleasant and supple on the palate.
About the domain :
Alain-Dominique Perrin has worked hard to make the magnificent Lagrézette estate one of the beacons of the Cahors revival. The progress made since the cellar renovation is clear to see: the wines have gained in elegance, and the fruit is better highlighted by the ageing process. We particularly appreciate the Château and Clos Marguerite cuvees, remarkable this year.

About the domain :
A star estate in the Cadurcian vineyards, acquired in 1985 by businessman Alain-Dominique Perrin. It is renowned for the distinctive architecture of its 16th-century manor house, with its pepper-pot towers, sloping roofs and dovecote; for its vineyard heritage (82 ha), cultivated since the 16th century; and, above all, for its ambitious wines, regularly featured in these pages.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2020 guide) 90/100 (Wonderful wine)
About the wine:
In fact, the estate's second wine (although there are several levels of quality here), Chevalier du Château Lagrezette 2017 is a blend with 84% Malbec and 16% Merlot (the data sheet I received claims 87% and 13% respectively) that spent 12 to 14 months in French oak (10% new). It boasts vibrant aromas of black cherry and blueberry, as well as hints of baking spices and a pronounced licorice note. It is medium to full-bodied, with a rich, velvety, slightly tannic feel and lingering notes of anise and black fruit on the finish.

Very good; but a little surprised since I was expecting a more powerful wine given its origin.
