"The wine recreates the medieval technique used to heat the fermenting must to make it more stable. In this case, it also produces a wine with an almost black color, dark in appearance and fragrance. There's elegance here, with fine tannins well integrated with juicy black fruit and a ripe style. This is a wine built for cellaring, even if it's juicy enough to drink now." (Wine Enthusiast 2015) A delight!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 16.5/20 (Reference wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
A real success in 2012, with a magnificent unctuous texture and delicious tannins.
About the domain :
Jean-Luc Baldès continues the family saga of this historic Cahors estate. Most of the 65 hectares are located on the third terraces of Vire, on the banks of the Lot. The rest is on the causse and its whiter soils. While the intelligent selection of plots reflects the estate's heritage, the prince-probus blend gives an accurate idea of the modern, colorful and juicy Cahors. An essential address.

Rated domain (2022 guide) City
About the wine:
On the new black wine 2012, fine ageing brings out a dense wine with flavors bursting with fruit.
About the domain :
Jean-Luc Baldès was a standard-bearer for Cahors Malbec, striving to express the full potential of his vineyards on the second, third and fourth terraces of the Lot. A guardian of the vineyard's history, the "black wine" and cuvée Probus were for a time Cahors' best-known wines. Today, the estate is focusing on wine tourism and trying to produce more modern cuvées, without really succeeding. We are therefore removing the star this year.
