"Referring to the quail that live in the vineyard, this intensely fruity wine is ripe and full-bodied. Scents of truffle, spice, plum and berry abound. This is a real wine for laying down; keep it for at least 7 years, although with its superb fruitiness it could be enjoyed earlier as well." (Wine Enthusiast 2011)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Jean-Luc Baldès continues the family saga of this historic Cahors estate. Most of the 65 hectares are located on the third terraces of Vire, on the banks of the Lot. The rest is on the causse and its whiter soils. While the intelligent selection of plots reflects the estate's heritage, the prince-probus blend gives an accurate idea of the modern, colorful and juicy Cahors. An essential address.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2012 guide) 15.5/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
This wine offers a seductively fruity approach to prunes, violets and spices. The smoothness of the palate gives it a very endearing character, which should be discovered later in time.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2011 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated domain (2022 guide) City
About the wine:
More expressive, from the Moureau terroir, Petites Cailles stands out for its velvety texture and long-lasting cocoa notes.
About the domain :
Jean-Luc Baldès was a standard-bearer for Cahors Malbec, striving to express the full potential of his vineyards on the second, third and fourth terraces of the Lot. A guardian of the vineyard's history, the "black wine" and cuvée Probus were for a time Cahors' best-known wines. Today, the estate is focusing on wine tourism and trying to produce more modern cuvées, without really succeeding. We are therefore removing the star this year.

About the wine:
In reference to the quail that live in the vineyard, this intensely fruity wine is ripe and full-bodied. Scents of truffle, spice, plum and berry abound. This is a true vin de garde; keep it for at least 7 years, although with its superb fruitiness it may well be enjoyed sooner.
