"An adventurous Fronton, delicious from start to finish..."

"The color is a deep, intense red. The nose, as powerful as it is charming, blends fruity notes with the hint of violets and spices so characteristic of Négrette, associated here with Syrah. On the palate, this wine is both delicious and fine, rich without being lacking in drive, infused with cherry and wild strawberry fruit that lingers delightfully through to the finish, supported by perfectly blended oak (aged in 400L barrels and foudre) and devilishly silky tannins. Irresistible. (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Le Roc is one of Fronton's finest. The range is broad, and the top wines demonstrate with each vintage that Fronton can be born with depth and real ageing potential. Proof of this comes with each new tasting of an estate wine over 10 years old, which is always astonishingly young.

Wine rated (guide 2025) 93/100

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Slightly less expressive today, Don Quichotte is in the same lineage, with a slightly more velvety pulp and slightly more flexuous and diversified tannins.

About the domain :

With the arrival of young Grégoire and Anne Ribes, the Ribes family decided to take over the vineyards of Château Flotis, a neighboring property they already owned. Its 21 hectares of syrah and négrette on a stony hillside have thus swelled the ranks of Le Roc. The négrettes are always in top form, thanks to meticulous and increasingly modern vinification techniques, giving the wines a radiant profile.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 22/11/2024

A delightful discovery, this modern, gourmet evocation of Négrette, in which the fruit glides in waves of small black berries at optimum ripeness with spices, against a smoky background left by 18 months' ageing. Ample and deep at once, Don Quichotte, like a knight, unfurls a dense, tender chew, and its remarkably fine tannins leave a velvety sensation on the palate. Wait a little to let the aromas develop.
