\r\n \r\nThe hillsides that make up the bulk of the AOC Montravel terroir extend those of Saint-Emilion and Côtes de Castillon to the east. To the west, they mark the entrance to the Bergerac vineyards. These foothills of the Périgord Pourpre also mark the boundary between oceanic and continental climates. It's here, at Montravel, that the mascaret, the breaking wave that sweeps up from the ocean onto the Dordogne at every tide, comes to an end. \r\n \r\nCovering almost 2,000 hectares, Montravel 's clay-limestone slopes are ideal for red grape varieties: Merlot dominates these clay soils, while Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, planted at high density (minimum 5,000 vines/hectare), express the full complexity of this great terroir, which has been recognized as an AOC Montravel rouge since the 2001 vintage. While this first AOC of the 21st century is exemplary in terms of the rigor of its production conditions and its resolutely \"terroir\" positioning, it is also quite unique when it comes to wine enjoyment. In fact, it is the first French still wine AOC to be tasted for the approval of each vintage, after final bottling. This pioneering method guarantees perfect traceability for the consumer, and places Montravel at the forefront of AOC excellence. \r\n \r\n Montravel red wine has a deep, sustained color. The nose, with its notes of black fruit and discreet roasting, evolves over time towards notes of truffle and undergrowth. The palate is both powerful and elegant, with ripe tannins and remarkable finesse. A Montravel red wine can be enjoyed fresh and fruity in its early years, but after a few years of ageing, it's a racy, high-class wine like the one offered by Château Moulin Caresse. \r\n","More information on the ","Buy the best Montravel wines in private sale!","Rated site","20112 notice","from €99 on your 1st order","-20€","Access to sales!","Discover our selection of the best producers of Montravel wines","Château Moulin Caresse","Château Puy Servain","See all estates","Our latest sales of Montravel wines","|","White wine","Rated 4/5","4/5 (1 review)","sauvignon","balanced","charmer","citrus","white flowers","foie gras","ready to drink","\"Close your eyes and enjoy!","\"Last year of organic conversion for this vintage, fermented and aged in 300L oak barrels, where Sauvignon reigns supreme.
