Weingut Wittmann
Weingut Wittmann is located south-west of Frankfurt, in the town of Westhofen, in the southern part of the Hesse-Rhine region. The Wittmann family and their ancestors have lived in this region for several centuries; documents trace the family's viticultural past back to 1663.

In 1990, Weingut Wittmann converted his vineyard to organic farming, and since 2004 it has also been cultivated biodynamically. The estate has vines in four different crus: Aulerde (the warmest), Kierchspiel, (a parcel with a high proportion of limestone that opens onto the Rhine in the shape of an amphitheater), Brunnenhauschen (the highest parcel) and Morstein (a parcel recognized since 1282). It is on these parcels that the estate's finest Rieslings are planted. The entire Weingut Wittmann vineyard is situated on gently sloping hillsides.

Hand-harvested, delicately pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, fermented and aged in used tuns, the Wittmann family is part of a so-called "modernist" movement, choosing to produce wines with higher alcohol levels but less residual sugar.

"A fascinating, complex and refined Riesling in very limited quantities!"

"What finesse and subtlety in this bouquet that reveals a multitude of nuances, without any of them overpowering the others. On the palate, the wine displays tension and salinity. Freshness, depth and, once again, the ability to create a link between power, fullness and finesse. The summary of a great wine" (Yves Beck 2022)

"Opt for this tasty, intense German Riesling with an irresistible price-pleasure ratio!"

Wittmann's Riesling Trocken 100 Hügel 2023 offers fresh scents of lemon/lime, grapefruit and nectarine. Very fresh on the palate, the juicy fruit flavors balance perfectly with the acidity and the subtly mineral, saline finish. Great value for money with this cuvée, perfect for your summer meals! - Screw cap

"A direct confrontation with the great God of wine for James Suckling, or the best Riesling of the year 2024 for Vinum!

"Stunning nose of pineapple chutney and curry leaf with great lemon complexity, swirling together to create a great cloud of mystery. Then you descend into a deep well of minerality. Almost supernatural freshness and energy on the razor-sharp palate. Are you strong enough for this direct confrontation with the great God of wine? Made from biodynamically grown, Respekt-certified grapes. Drink now, but best from 2025. (James Suckling 2023)

"A pure, intense and refined Riesling according to the Wine Advocate!"

"Impressive spices hit you as soon as your nose dips into the glass. Enormous flinty energy combines with a compact, super-chalky structure on an electrifying palate. Very long, concentrated finish that just won't quit. Made from biodynamically grown grapes and Respekt-certified. Drink now, but better from 2024 onwards". (James Suckling 2023)

The sweetness of this German sweet wine (127.5g/L residual sugar) from Wittmann balances perfectly with the tangy notes of Riesling. This wine harmoniously combines power and sweetness, and will delight your taste buds!
