Robert Parker
"The nose is delicately floral, with notes of hawthorn and yellow fruit. On the palate, the ripeness of the grape and candied citrus fruit are evident. A balanced, complex wine with good length." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2019 - RVF) A pure, subtle Riesling.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
An emblematic Bergholtz estate for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the union of Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. In the range, the fine terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler and especially Spiegel have great ageing potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to melt away.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2017 guide) 93+/100 (Wonderful wine)
About the wine:
The 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Saering Vendanges Tardives was harvested on September 29 with 40-50% noble rot and fermented to 12.9% alcohol, plus 64 grams residual sugar. The wine opens with a bouquet of intense grapefruit and flint, incredibly pure and stimulating citrus with aromas of crushed stone. Full-bodied, rich and elegant, this is a generous yet pungent and saline Riesling that tastes much drier than the analytical figures suggest. The wine shows remarkable elegance and finesse, persistent grip and stimulating salinity. All it takes is patience, say 10-15 years.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated (2018 guide) 16.5/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
A parcel of old vines, over 60% botrytized grapes sorted. A powerful finish.
About the domain :
Sensitive and experienced winemakers, Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine are at the helm of this estate, founded in 1871, handed down from father to son for five generations, and biodynamic since 1998. Whatever the grape variety, the precision of the wines, their density and maturity have never been so accomplished: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler and Kitterlé grands crus, which are a must-discover and are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth, water). This too discreet house offers a remarkable welcome, and many wines are available in older vintages.

Mineral, very powerful. Lovely floral nose. Initially gripping on the palate, followed by a mellow flavor that goes on and on for a deep, suave length. Perfect with foie gras escalope poëlée accompanied by sliced apples or pears roasted in the same cooking juices. A real winner!
