"Wonderful nose of exotic fruits (more mango than lychee) and tropical flowers, none of the specific notes dominating, rather the opposite. So succulent and elegant, the palate's rather smooth texture is truly silky. The extravagance of this grape is only slightly apparent in the flamboyant finish, where a salty touch effortlessly lifts the ample body. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now or cellar. Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 91/100
5-star rated estates (Outstanding producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the wine:
A lovely, gourmand nose of rose and melon. Light sugar at the outset, resulting in an easily digestible palate that quickly picks up spicy nuances, all in finesse.
About the domain :
Cathy Faller works as a family, accompanied by her sons Eddy and Théo. The vast vineyard produces fruity wines of excellent constitution and finesse. The great wines are those of the surrounding hillsides: the Furstentum and Altenbourg grands crus and the Schlossberg, brilliant in its crystalline interpretation of Riesling. The 2019 takeover of Domaine Gérard Fuchs (in Sigolsheim) has enabled us to expand by six hectares, including two in the Furstentum grand cru. Ideal for satisfying unabated global demand. An institution.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical experience)
About the domain :
Le Clos des Capucins is one of those magical, elusive, timeless places. It's rare to find a place with so much energy and history, producing wines of such purity. Assisted by her two sons, Eddy and Théo, Catherine Faller is at the head of the estate, deploying a rare energy to keep the quality of the wines at the highest level and maintain a warm welcome to the domaine. Her son Théo devotes a great deal of attention to the vines, which have been biodynamically cultivated throughout the estate since 2005, while Ghislain Berthiot, who has been with the family for several years, is in charge of vinification. Eddy supports his mother on the sales side. This is one of the finest expressions of the Schlossberg Grand Cru, at different levels of ripeness. Its limpidity and precision astound us, often approaching perfection. Gewurztraminer finds its preferred terroirs in the surrounding area. The domaine has just bought 6 hectares of vines, including 1 hectare in the Furstentum Grand Cru.
