Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the domain :
Cathy Faller works as a family, accompanied by her sons Eddy and Théo. The vast vineyard produces fruity wines of excellent constitution and finesse. The great wines are those of the surrounding hillsides: the Furstentum and Altenbourg grands crus and the Schlossberg, brilliant in its crystalline interpretation of Riesling. The 2019 takeover of Domaine Gérard Fuchs (in Sigolsheim) has enabled us to expand by six hectares, including two in the Furstentum grand cru. Ideal for satisfying unabated global demand. An institution.

Domain rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical moment)
About the domain :
Le Clos des Capucins is one of those magical, elusive, timeless places. It's rare to find a place with so much energy and history, producing wines of such purity. Assisted by her two sons, Eddy and Théo, Catherine Faller is at the head of the estate, deploying a rare energy to keep the quality of the wines at the highest level and maintain a warm welcome to the domaine. Her son Théo devotes a great deal of attention to the vines, which have been biodynamically cultivated throughout the estate since 2005, while Ghislain Berthiot, who has been with the family for several years, is in charge of vinification. Eddy supports his mother on the sales side. This is one of the finest expressions of the Schlossberg Grand Cru, at different levels of ripeness. Its limpidity and precision astound us, often approaching perfection. Gewurztraminer finds its preferred terroirs in the surrounding area. The domaine has just bought 6 hectares of vines, including 1 hectare in the Furstentum Grand Cru.

About the wine :
2021 Les Vignes du Précheur comes from the Prediger vineyard, just below the Furstentum Grand Cru. It's a blend of Riesling, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Sylvaner and Muscat. The Auxerrois and Pinot Gris are harvested first and co-fermented; the Riesling, Sylvaner and Muscat are also co-fermented, then the two batches are blended and aged together. This wine is fresh, bright, light and agile, with just a touch of aroma and a nice vein of acidity.

About the wine :
A very charming wine with aromas of slightly exotic fruit salad and lots of tangerine. Juicy, with a very attractive balance between medium body and moderate acidity. The finish is supple and sustained by fine tannins. Riesling-based co-fermentation with auxerrois, pinot gris, muscat and sylvaner. Made from Demeter-certified biodynamically grown grapes. For drinking or cellaring.
