Bettane & Desseauve

"Greedy aromas of undergrowth and dried fruit, it's dry and salivating, beautiful presence on the palate, savory, straight, ideal on a pan-fried mushroom. The style we'd love to have on so many Pinot Gris in Alsace!" (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2017)

Rated (guide 2017) 16/20 + Coup de Coeur (Very good wine)

About the wine:

Delicious aromas of undergrowth and dried fruit, it's dry and salivating, with a lovely presence on the palate, tasty and straightforward, ideal with pan-fried mushrooms. The style you'd expect from so many of Alsace's Pinot Gris!

Wine rated (2017 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning connoisseurs).

About the domain :

Jean-Paul and Marie Zusslin, who have been carrying on the family winegrowing tradition since 1691, have been exemplary for some years now. Based in Orschwihr, in a beautiful vineyard, they form a passionate and charismatic duo, dedicated to a job well done. And they're multiplying their projects: designing a new bottle, setting up dozens of beehives and nesting boxes in the plots... Each has his own role: Marie in marketing, Jean-Paul in the vines and the cellar. Biodynamic viticulture since 1997, meticulous winemaking and precise ageing sum up the work of this benchmark domaine, where the spirit of the parcel is omnipresent, even in the crémants. The excellence of the range means that we can expect to see a rise in our rankings!

A wine of talent and absolute honesty... measured in both richness and residual sugar.
