3*Coup de Coeur

Hachette

"The estate's venerable eighty-year-old vines still have much to give and deserve the full consideration of lovers of great Brouilly. David Duthel makes the most of them and has struck again with this bewitching 2015, with its Provençal allure and generosity. The nose, of rare elegance, evokes candied cherry, raspberry and violet. The palate is full-bodied, powerful and voluminous, supported by fine tannins and a mineral framework that ensures balance and reinforces its length". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2018)

About the wine:

The estate's venerable eighty-year-old vines still have much to give and deserve the full consideration of lovers of great Brouilly. David Duthel makes the most of them and has struck again with this bewitching 2015, with its Provençal allure and generosity. The nose, of rare elegance, evokes candied cherry, raspberry and violet. The palate is full-bodied, powerful and voluminous, underpinned by fine tannins and a mineral framework that provides balance and length.

About the domain :

Founded in 1926 on the northern slopes of Mont Brouilly, this family estate covers 21 ha, with parcels in four crus: brouilly, côte-de-brouilly, régnié and morgon. A sure bet in Beaujolais: the first Favorite was a 1984, and many others have followed. David Duthel took over the running of the estate in 2010, supplementing it with a trading activity.

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

Cathy Duthel and her husband David Duthel have taken over from Jean-Paul Ruet, who developed bottled sales at this estate founded in 1926. A firm believer in traditional semi-carbonic vinification, Domaine Ruet adapts to the profile of each vintage, partially de-stemming depending on the year, ageing in wood or vats, punching down and de-stemming to offer maximum fruit. Careful selection of plots brings out the marriage of soil and Gamay. A wide and very homogeneous range of wines to discover in a well-stocked cellar.

The fruit expresses itself well and the palate has good length, but I can't find the liquorice!
