"It takes the combination of a good winemaker and excellent terroir to produce a cuvée of this level. The nose is open and complex, demonstrating the elegance of jammy red fruits, particularly ripe cherries. On the palate, round, silky tannins give a gourmet character to the long, full, rich mouthfeel without ever lacking freshness. All the assets of a wine that, as an added bonus, will evolve serenely". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020) What a success!

About the domain :
The origins of the company go back to Jean Loron, a winemaker born in the Beaujolais region in 1711. His grandson Jean-Marie founded a wine shipping business in 1821. Now run by the 8th generation, the company also owns several domains, including Ch. de la Pierre (régnié, brouilly), Fleurie, Bellevue (morgon), domains des Billards (saint-amour) and de la Vieille Église (juliénas).

Rated (2019 guide) 91/100 (Wonderful wine)

About the wine:
Brimming with aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries and roses, Maison Jean Loron has achieved real success with their 2018 Fleurie Château de Fleurie. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and lively, with fine tannins, beautiful concentration and bright acidity, it's of exceptional quality, worth the detour and worth seeking out.

Despite good value for money, this wine has lost much of its character. 5 years in the cellar have made this wine very anonymous and lacking in finesse.

a lovely wine, even if I confess to a slight disappointment in view of the characteristics/ratings, for my part it's 16/20 with lasagne.

A little disappointed the first time, much better the second time on Sunday roast beef...

a flowery wine that does the job. Not heady, with fruit, freshness and a half-power body. Very gluggish and easy to drink.

good value for money but I expected better... the experts may have over-rated this wine a little...

certainly very tasty and well-balanced, but I miss the expected festive fragrance I always expect from Fleurie.

I don't share the opinion of the Guide Hachette (***): it's good but not exceptional. Did we drink the same wine?
