"The Gamays from several parcels near the château (lieux-dits Les Rochaux, Point du Jour, La Madone) were born on sandy and granitic terroirs. As usual at Loron, vinification was carried out in a submerged cap with a large proportion of whole grapes. The wine is fruity, fresh, full-bodied and fine, and perfectly balanced. Silky, delicate tannins ensure a crisp texture. The 2018 version was also awarded the Favorite." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021) What a success!

About the domain :
The origins of the company go back to Jean Loron, a winemaker born in the Beaujolais region in 1711. His grandson Jean-Marie founded a wine shipping business in 1821. Now run by the 8th generation, the company also owns several estates, including Ch. de la Pierre (régnié, brouilly), Fleurie, Bellevue (morgon), domaines des Billards (saint-amour) and de la Vieille Église (juliénas).

About the wine:
Made from vines belonging to the Loron and Barbet families, this is a rich, structured wine. It's beautifully perfumed, juicy with blackberry flavors and fragrant acidity. Firm tannins underneath all that fruit promise aging. Drink from 2022.

A rough wine with no pronounced fruit, does not stand up to ageing.

A fresh, red-fruited Gamay with a pleasant fullness on the palate. Silky finish. Fleurie's finest terroirs are masterfully vinified and cellared here.

Light Fleurie with a clearly defined aromatic expression. A fluid, graphite mouthfeel, with tannins that are still closed. Premature opening? Sharing the same reservations as Marc. L, I find the enthusiasm of W. E and Hachette exaggerated, to say the least. Score = 3.7. Drank with a baked andouillette with old-fashioned mustard sauce.
