Robert Parker

"The nose is intense, juicy and peppery. The whole is ripe but fresh. For the moment, the woodiness coats the wine without dominating. The juice is dense and tight, with an intense structure that requires ageing. A serious wine". (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2017 - RVF)

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (2018 guide) 16.5/20 (Reference wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Very well-structured wine with lots of elegance. Great finesse, magnificent touch. A wine for laying down.

About the domain :

COMMENTS retirement: 5 hectares in Morgon, on the most beautiful lieux-dits, Corcelettes, Grand Cras and Côte de Py! That was in 2013. Since he set up, Mee Godard has been making progress and building. A hectare of Moulin-à-Vent here, a new building there, and wines that continue to refine. The Godard style is all about pure, never sterile, airy yet structured wines that exude their origins. Add to this a greediness that may have been lacking in his earlier vintages, and you have the keystone of the superb 2017s. It's a shame there's so little of it!

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

The nose is intense, juicy and peppery. The whole is ripe but fresh. For the moment, the woodiness coats the wine without dominating. The juice is dense and tight, with an intense structure that requires ageing. A serious wine.

About the domain :

Trained as an oenologist but with no winemaking history, Mee made her dream come true when, in February 2013, she single-handedly took over the plots of an unsuccessful winemaker. Her pocket-sized estate is made up of very old vines in the best Morgon terroirs (Corcelette, Grand Cras, Côte du Py). A moulin-à-vent cuvée was added to the range in 2016. Mee Godard's free-spirited, yet well-defined wines are going from strength to strength!

We can finally get close to it, with its black fruit and spice registers, it feels like we're in the Rhône (well, it's not far!). Nice

An astonishing Morgon, still closed and extremely powerful. Forget it for a few years to appreciate the aromas of red fruit and undergrowth that are already coming through.
