"Despite a reduced edge, the fruit is beautifully ripe: raspberry, sweet spices, pepper and violets are released with aeration. On the palate, there's an appreciable consistency and chewiness, without imposing a hardness of substance. The beautiful acidity of the vintage tightens the wine and gives it great freshness. Long, fine finish". (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2018 - RVF)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Domain rated (2021 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

COMMENTS retirement: 5 hectares in Morgon, on the most beautiful lieux-dits, Corcelettes, Grand Cras and Côte de Py! That was in 2013. Since he set up, Mee Godard has been making progress and building. A hectare of Moulin-à-Vent here, a new building there, and wines that continue to refine. The Godard style is all about pure, never sterile, airy yet structured wines that exude their origins. Add to this a greediness that may have been lacking in his earlier vintages, and you have the keystone of the superb 2017s. It's a shame there's so little of it!

About the wine:

Despite a reduced edge, the fruit is beautifully ripe: raspberry, sweet spices, pepper and violets are released with aeration. On the palate, there's an appreciable consistency and chewiness, without imposing a hardness of substance. The beautiful acidity of the vintage tightens the wine and gives it great freshness. Long, fine finish.

About the domain :

Trained as an oenologist but with no winemaking history, Mee made her dream come true when, in February 2013, she single-handedly took over the plots of an unsuccessful winemaker. Her pocket-sized estate is made up of very old vines in the best Morgon terroirs (Corcelette, Grand Cras, Côte du Py). A moulin-à-vent cuvée was added to the range in 2016. Mee Godard's free-spirited, yet well-defined wines are on the rise!

Drank too young. Burgundian in style, but still too much ageing.
