"Under a cherry juice, the nose closes on new wood. The palate is still corseted by its concentration. We won't drink this wine: we'll chew it with a nice dish in sauce." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France - RVF) Limited quantities available.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 17/20 (Reference wine)

Domaine rated (2023 guide) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the wine:

Great aromatic finesse. Long finish, still austere. A fine bottle in the making.

About the domain :

Jean-Jacques Parinet's ambitious and consistent renovation of the vineyard and winery is now delivering the expected results. Progress has been meteoric and production continues to dominate the appellation. He can rely on a talented team, made up of Édouard Parinet, their cellar master Brice Lafon and their communications manager Morgane Chambriard. A key player for the appellation and the region, and a formidable ambassador creating value and image in France and around the world.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 17/20 (Grand vin)

Domaine rated (2023 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Under a cherry juice, the nose closes on new wood. The palate is still corseted by its concentration. We won't drink this wine: we'll chew it with a nice dish in sauce.

About the domain :

Since its acquisition by the Parinet family in 2009, this vast estate has invested considerable human resources in rejuvenating the wings of Moulin-à-Vent, like Château des Jacques in its day. In a modern Gamay style, with long, well-managed ageing in wood, the numerous parcel-based cuvées express the complexity and diversity of the soils. 2016 saw the arrival of the estate's first white vines (4.5 hectares) in the Mâcon and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations, under the name Roc des Boutires.

Rated Domaine (2023 guide) Recommended

About the wine:

Deep ruby. Explosive, oak-spiced and mineralized aromas of red and black fruit liqueur, incense and vanilla bring back notes of cola and earthy rhubarb with aeration. Sweet and deeply concentrated, yet almost impossibly lively and focused on the palate, offering intense flavors of raspberry, cherry cola, spice cake and floral pastille and a tonic jolt of minerality on the back half. Finishes smooth, soft and extremely long, with resonant floral and spice notes and velvety tannins that come slowly to add shape and gentle grip.

Wine rated (guide 2019) 16/ 20

About the wine:

The wine, with its red berry notes and smoky touch, is juicy and long-lasting. Structured, its austerity evaporates after a few years in bottle.
