Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (guide 2024) 92/100
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
More ripe fruit than traditional, but perhaps not the full expression of the distinctive Les Rochelles terroir. Beautiful texture and full body, the finish lacks a touch of caress.
About the domain :
The very dynamic and friendly Lardet family, Delphine, Jocelin, Stéphane and their father, confirm our expectations with more accomplished wines from recent vintages (the barrels have aged...). More precise, without losing their power, the crus assert themselves with authority. Unfortunately, the estate has not escaped the climatic afflictions that have affected the cru. Quantities are small but highly qualitative. Enthusiasts should make haste while waiting for the 2018s, which were still maturing at the time of our visit.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Formerly known as Dom. du Petit Chêne, this windmill vineyard (8 ha) was taken over in 2012 by Paul Lardet, an industrialist at the head of a metallurgy company manufacturing winery equipment. He renamed it Le Nid in 2014 and runs it with his 3 children using integrated farming methods, with customized breeding. A very consistent quality estate
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2023) 91/100
Rated domain (guide 2023) Recommended
About the wine:
This impressive Beaujolais has tons of ripe blackberries, soft tannins that support the generous palate and exhilarating mineral freshness in the long, firm but juicy finish. Drink it or keep it.
