"An exceptional terroir
"Spring bouquet, unusual for this cuvée. Delicate and unctuous, champ-de-cour in all its splendor. The macerations were shortened to find the perfect balance, and it worked. Bravo!" (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve 2020) A lovely Moulin-à-Vent from an exceptional terroir with manganese-rich soils that give this cuvée intensity, expressiveness, terroir breed and, above all, a lovely seductive side. Now a benchmark!

About the wine:
Spring bouquet, unusual for this cuvée. Delicate and unctuous, champ-de-cour in all its splendor. The macerations were shortened to find the perfect balance, and it worked. Well done!
About the domain :
Since 1937, domaine Paul Janin et fils has been producing moulin-à-vent and beaujolais-villages reds and whites. Eric Janin, the current owner, represents the fourth generation. He has inherited a succession of investments that have made the domaine such a success. In 1937, his grandfather bought the famous Tremblay vineyard, and in 1967, his father acquired what is today the estate's flagship cuvée: the century-old Greneriers vines. Éric Janin is also the father of young Perrine, who is studying oenology, and in turn continues to invest in the long-term future of the estate. In particular, this involves massal selections to gradually renew his stock of old vines. Difficult years are piling up for the cru, and Éric Janin has not escaped the violent hailstorms that have devastated the vineyards over the last three years. In order to preserve what has built the estate's reputation, the range is now completed by purchases from the negociants. Of a more classic standing, these wines are of good quality. As for the estate's stars, they suffer from low quantities but do not disappoint in terms of quality. In 2018, vignes-du-tremblay and greneriers are magnificent successes.

About the wine:
Eric Janin produced 18,000 bottles of this vat-aged cuvée. Fine aromas of fruit (raspberries, blackcurrants...), sweet spices... The wine is straightforward, dense, long and pure. "A fine classic for laying down", concludes one taster.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2020 guide) 91/100 (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
The 2018 Moulin-à-Vent Les Vignes du Tremblay has a deep bouquet of ripe plums, berries and cherries, with subtle notes of rose petal and spice that bottle age will reveal. Medium- to full-bodied, sensual and enveloping, it's broad and fleshy, with a luscious core of ripe fruit, powdery tannins and ripe acids. It's a fairly mature expression of the appellation, and this may mean that it will show itself at its best when young.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
The location and age of the vines aren't everything. It takes the good farming sense and analytical finesse of Éric Janin to produce great Gamays, concentrated and fresh. Since his first harvest in 1983, Éric Janin has maintained a winemaking style that brings out the best in climates located mainly in the Moulin-à-Vent cru. Some vines, such as Les Greneriers, have survived both world wars. In 2017, Éric Janin set up a trading business with partner winemakers. Chénas, Brouilly and Beaujolais-Villages complete his range.

Fleshy fruit on the nose. Juicy on the palate, with fine texture and length.

This wine, tasted in December 2019, although a little closed, had already seduced me (5/5), but is now (April 2021) in all its splendor. Enjoy it now or a little later, but not too much.
