"An exceptional terroir
"This 2019 returns to the familiar level, with a full, energetic wine with high definition of tannin. With a very sapid profile, the muscle of the vintage predicts great cellaring." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2022 - RVF) Les Vignes du Tremblay is the cuvée that marks the origin of the estate. Stemming from an exceptional terroir with manganese-rich soils, it blends race, intensity, expressiveness and finesse.

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2021 guide) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
Since 1937, domaine Paul Janin et fils has been producing moulin-à-vent and beaujolais-villages reds and whites. Eric Janin, the current owner, represents the fourth generation. He has inherited a succession of investments that have made the domaine such a success. In 1937, his grandfather bought the famous Tremblay vineyard, and in 1967, his father acquired what is today the estate's flagship cuvée: the century-old Greneriers vines. Éric Janin is also the father of young Perrine, who is studying oenology, and in turn continues to invest in the long-term future of the estate. In particular, this involves massal selections to gradually renew his stock of old vines. Difficult years are piling up for the cru, and Éric Janin has not escaped the violent hailstorms that have devastated the vineyards over the last three years. In order to preserve what has built the estate's reputation, the range is now completed by purchases from the negociants. Of a more classic standing, these wines are of good quality. As for the estate's stars, they suffer from low quantities but do not disappoint in terms of quality. In 2018, vignes-du-tremblay and greneriers are magnificent successes.

Rated (guide 2022) 17.5/20 (Grand vin)
Domaine rated (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
This 2019 returns to the familiar level, with a full, energetic wine, with high definition of tannin. With a very sapid profile, the cru's muscle predicts great ageing potential.
About the domain :
The location and age of the vines aren't everything. It takes the good farming sense and analytical finesse of Éric Janin to produce great Gamays, concentrated and fresh. Since his first harvest in 1983, Éric Janin has maintained a winemaking style that brings out the best in climates located mainly in the Moulin-à-Vent cru. Some vines, such as Les Greneriers, have survived both world wars. In 2017, Éric Janin set up a trading business with partner winemakers. Chénas, Brouilly and Beaujolais-Villages complete his range.

About the wine:
Medium-deep color with violet highlights. Notes of sweet plum, red fruit, gingerbread and leather. Full-bodied, with youthful, grippy tannins, sweet black fruit, crushed berry notes and a lovely, slightly spicy length.

A simple, well-made MAV. On a structured, intensely fruity profile in 2019, the score plays out on the palate between restrained acidity and black fruits and Morello cherries, combined with fine aromas of spring violets. Supple, velvety tannins carry us through to a savory, mineral finish. Just entering its tasting window, this fine 2019 vintage was paired at 16° with forest veal paupiettes with fresh chanterelles. Weak point: the Janin signature comes at a price...Note = 4.
