"Merlot (70%) and Cabernet, organically farmed (conversion in progress), have given birth to this 2010, initially on the reserve, open to blackcurrant after agitation. Full-bodied and long on the palate, it reveals a soft, generous flesh that wraps around powerful, but not harsh, tannins. In two or three years, this characterful wine will be a good match for game in sauce". Guide Hachette des Vins 2014

Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2014 guide) 2**Stars (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
This 30-hectare estate is situated around the other Montfort property, the feudal Château de Monbadon, built in the 14th century by Edward III, King of England, and in the family of the current owner since 1602. Merlot (70%) and Cabernet, organically farmed (conversion in progress), have given birth to this 2010, which is initially reserved, opening up to blackcurrant after agitation. Full-bodied and long on the palate, it reveals a soft, generous flesh that wraps around powerful, but not harsh, tannins. In two or three years, this characterful wine will be a good match for game in sauce.

A typical example of the shortcomings of 2010 Bordeaux, bursting with ripe Merlot and far too much alcohol for the tannic structure.

A decent wine, but nothing more.
