"A truly beautiful, refined, and vigorous white wine. Fruity and spicy nose with hints of lilac and hawthorn, full-bodied and enveloping on the palate with a beautiful texture, fruitiness, and plenty of freshness on the finish." (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve 2019)

Wine rated (2018 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2019 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

A truly beautiful, refined and vigorous white wine. Fruity and spicy nose with hints of lilac and hawthorn, full-bodied and enveloping on the palate with a beautiful texture, fruitiness and plenty of freshness on the finish.

About the estate:

The Despagne family owns five estates and 300 hectares of vineyards planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties. The Despagnes' seriousness, inventiveness, and skill mean that all their wines, particularly those from their flagship properties, Tour de Mirambeau and Rauzan Despagne, could serve as a model for many Bordeaux wines: always flattering but never straying far from Bordeaux classicism. Here, the wines are always very harmonious.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2019) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About wine:

A label well known to enthusiasts, illustrated by the venerable tower standing amid the old vines of the Despagne family. In the glass, a very fruity Entre-Deux-Mers (citrus, quince) on the nose and palate, rich and long, with just the right amount of acidity to add zest.

About the estate:

Winemakers for over two centuries, the Despagne family, based in the heart of Entre-deux-Mers, is a key player in the Bordeaux wine region, with 300 hectares spread across several vineyards - Bel Air Perponcher, Tour de Mirambeau, Rauzan Despagne, Lion Beaulieu, and Mont-Pérat - run by Jean-Louis's children (Thibault, Gabriel, and Basaline) and Joël Elissalde, director of the estate. Rauzan Despagne, Lion Beaulieu, Mont-Pérat—managed by Jean-Louis's children (Thibault, Gabriel, and Basaline) and by Joël Elissalde, technical director. Their wines are often featured in these pages, in all three colors.

Wine rating (2018 guide) 88-90/100 (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

The 2017 Tour de Mirambeau white wine is fragrant with golden apple, buttery Bosc pear, lemon cream, and a touch of white pepper. Rich in fruit with apple compote and poached pears on the palate, it has good freshness and toasted notes on the long finish.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 90/100

About wine:

A slight toasted touch adds extra richness to this wine. It offers spices as well as intense crisp notes of green fruit and citrus. The two elements balance each other and will allow this wine to age well.
