"The 2013 red is a great success, with a level of concentration above the average for the year. If the tannins are still in relief, the substance is present. This wine will evolve gracefully over five good years. " (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2017 - RVF)

Château Respide-Médeville
Serious
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2017) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
Elegant nose of blackberry jam, sweet spices, cocoa and smoky oak, generous palate with lots of fruit, tight, straightforward tannins, vigor and good length.
About the domain :
This property belongs to the Médeville family, well known for their famous Sauternes Château Gilette. The 8-hectare vineyard produces a fine red Graves, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, and half of it a very elegant white Graves of recognized and consistent quality.

Rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2017) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and that, as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the wine:
The 2013 red is a great success, with a level of concentration above the year's average. Although the tannins are still in relief, the substance is present. This wine will evolve gracefully over five good years.
About the domain :
The château, owned by the Médeville family since the 1980s (who also own Châteaux Gilette and Les Justices in Sauternes, Château des Eyrins in Margaux and Gonet-Médeville champagnes), located in Preignac, in the southern Graves region close to Langon and the Sauternes region, is perfectly maintained. Thanks to well-balanced grape varieties, the wines express the complementary virtues of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (a slight majority) in the reds, Sauvignon and Semillon and a small proportion of Muscadelle (up to 5% in the blend, depending on the vintage) in the whites. The latter reveals the true style of wines from the southern Graves region: unpretentious, with notes of citrus peel and no heaviness on the palate, with a short ageing period of three months in barrel. The reds have made good progress, thanks to winemaking consultant Olivier Dauga. Julie and Xavier Gonet manage this property with talent, maintaining an excellent level and perfect regularity of production.
