Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
A new vat room and the handover to the competent Claire Villars-Lurton, who is committed to respectful, attentive viticulture, have enabled this Margaux classified growth to regain its rightful place. The 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages illustrate the estate's progress. The wines continue to gain in finesse.

About the domain :
Owned by the Ferrière family from the 18th century to 1914, this vineyard was leased from 1952 onwards by Alexis Lichine, who transferred the vinification to Lascombes. Bought by the Villard family in 1988, it was reborn in 1992, at the end of the lease. Entirely renovated by Claire Villars-Lurton (Haut-Bages Libéral in Pauillac), the vineyard covers 20 ha and is run organically.

About the wine:
This vintage confirms its great success, in a style that we welcome, digestible and refined on the palate. This is a wine with a very refined, delicate mouthfeel, stretching out on the palate with a harmonious succession of fresh flavors. Full of sparkle, it represents a very fine bargain.
About the domain :
A very small estate, Ferrière continues to chart its course. Claire Villars-Lurton, who runs the estate, spares no effort: construction of a new winery, operational since the 2013 harvest, and biodynamic vineyard certification since 2015. Every year, the wines gain a little more density, offering a distinctive style without ever trying to play hard to get. This is now a sure-fire Margaux value.
Wine Enthusiast
Wine rated (guide 2023) 95/100
About the wine:
This wine has a dense character, with rich fruit and blackberry flavors enhanced by tannins. Thanks to the warmth of Margaux, the wine is rich yet elegant. Drink from 2027. Organic and biodynamic. - Roger Voss
Vinous A. Galloni
Wine rated (guide 2022) 95+/100
About the wine:
Ferrière 2020 is phenomenal. Black fruits, lavender, gravel, incense and dark spices are just some of the many notes that develop. A wine of explosive, vertical energy, Ferrière is fabulous. The tannins are still a little hard today. Readers will have to be patient, but all the ingredients are there for this 2020 to be superb. Château Ferrière has a sensation of unbridled wildness that is extremely seductive.
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2022) 95/100
About the wine:
Complex aromas of crushed berries, walnuts, damp earth and spices follow through to a full-to-medium body, chewy but juicy tannins and a savory finish. It needs time to soften, but I like its character and intensity. 68% Cabernet, 27% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Made from Demeter-certified biodynamically grown grapes. Drink after 2025.
Terre de Vins
Rated wine (guide 2021) 95-96/100
About the wine:
The nose is immediately suave, followed by a beautiful attack of black fruits. Round, full-bodied, with sweet tannins. Blackcurrant mingles with roasted notes of coffee and chocolate. A successful combination of substance and finesse.
