"Extraordinary, it sits in the court of the world's greatest wines!"
"Garnet red with violet highlights. What elegance and complexity! The ageing fades and gives way to notes of black fruit, spices and a pleasant floral touch. Subtle touches of licorice and graphite. With aeration, notes of red fruit emerge. Silky, rich attack. On the palate, the wine is creamy, with powerful yet elegant tannins. They are perfectly integrated and in symbiosis with a healthy acidity that confers freshness and carries the fruit through to the finish. The finish is fine and persistent. What a great success! This Angélus is impressive and marks a new era, respectively an achievement; We are definitely in the big league!" Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 19/20 + Favorite (Wine of exceptional quality)
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 5*Stars (Outstanding producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and the world)
About the wine:
In a vintage that was eagerly awaited, Hubert de Boüard has produced a great, unctuous, long wine with a characteristic velvety texture. The nose is powerful, complex, expressive and very ripe, with a lovely toasty woodiness and very present fruit. The palate is dense and flavorful, with tight, ripe tannins, fruit and freshness. Huge potential. Drink before 2042.
About the domain :
In the heart of the Côte de Saint-Émilion, in the appellation's most prestigious, south-facing sector, Angélus boasts one of the finest terroirs, covering 25 hectares in a single block. Taken to the top by Hubert de Boüard, outstanding winemaker and soul of the estate, it is now run by his daughter Stéphanie and nephew Thierry Grenié de Boüard, who have been at the helm since 2016. The estate has few equals. A high percentage of Cabernet Franc (40-50%), a major human and financial commitment (the new winery built in 2014 enables even more impressively precise wines to be made, the recent helium balloon system is there to counteract hail attacks) and, above all, meticulous attention to every detail. It all adds up to a highly demanding arsenal. These constant efforts earned the estate the supreme rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé A in 2012, an elite accolade that places it on a par with Cheval Blanc and Ausone. More recently, the switch to organic viticulture has completed the rise of the cru, which stands out for its singular sensuality and subtle aniseed notes found nowhere else. Fresh, elegant and supported by subdued tannins, Angélus remains one of the most complex Saint-Emilions on the Right Bank.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Deep garnet-purple in color, Angélus 2015 is a little closed at first, but quickly blossoms into a wonderful perfume of raspberry jam, ripe black plum and chocolate-covered cherry, with hints of Darjeeling tea, candied violet, spice cake and cinnamon stick, with a touch of anise. The full-bodied palate is fabulously opulent, offering layers of mouth-coating black and red fruits, with plenty of floral sparkle and a seductive velvety texture, and finishing with great length and tension. 2023 - 2050

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical experience)
About the domain :
Promoted to the quartet of premier grands crus classés A in the latest Saint-Émilion classification in 2012, no château has come so far in the Bordeaux hierarchy in such a short space of time. Hubert de Boüard, a modernist winemaker, great communicator and international consultant, is a man of influence in local and national wine circles. 2013 saw the complete renovation and embellishment of the winery, now topped by a spectacular carillon. Hubert de Boüard has restructured his family's vineyard, giving himself all the assets needed to reach the appellation's quality heights. Thierry Grenié-de Boüard joined Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal at the helm of the château in 2017. The eighth generation is taking over, and significantly shaking things up. Angélus epitomizes the sophisticated, formal perfection of today's great Bordeaux wines. 10 kilometers from Angélus, a new winery will be used to vinify Carillon and N°3, the second and third wines, with dedicated plots. For the 2021 vintage, the château will make its organic label official.

Rated wine (guide 2022) 97/100
About the wine:
Deep nose of red plums and very ripe black cherries. Very ripe and concentrated, with huge, fine, powdery tannins. They guide the voluptuous, velvety palate towards a distant horizon. The finish is very powerful and dense, but impeccably balanced. Yes, this is an extraordinary wine to drink now, but it has so much potential. Drink now, but preferably from 2025.

Rated wine (2018 guide) 98/100
About the wine:
Intense, beautiful color. Very aromatic nose too, fruity, pure, ripe and complex. A nuanced entry to the palate, the wine moves forward, melting with flavor. From the middle onwards, it continues to melt and becomes more powerful yet graceful. Long, complex, tasty, fine-grained finish. Superb!
Vert de Vin
Rated wine (2016 guide) 97-98/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is aromatic, elegant, delicate, fine, precise, complex and fairly generous. Notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and violet are combined with fine hints of plum, blueberry and spices, as well as a touch of toast, licorice and Sichuan pepper. The palate is fruity, elegant, suave, well-balanced and precise, offering precision, a lovely tannic structure and a smooth, slightly silky texture. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of crème de mûre and blackberry jam, combined with fine hints of toast, red fruit and lingering coffee. The tannins are fine, elegant, tight and slightly firm. Good length and aromatic persistence. Beautiful harmony!

Wine rated (2020 guide) 100/100
About the wine:
The nose is inviting. And that's before you discover truffles, espresso, dark chocolate, black cherry, smoke, spices and plums. Rich, dense and concentrated, the wine is voluptuous, ostentatious and sexy. The velvety tannins are very pleasant as the wine rolls across the palate. The finish goes on and on. Open in the name of science, this wine will start to make a name for itself around 2027.

Red fruit on the nose. Tannic but balanced on the palate, with hints of tobacco.
