Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion
The Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion appellation is one of Saint-Emilion's "satellite" appellations, and owes its name to the Château Saint-Georges which dominates the vineyard. The Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion vineyard covers around 185 hectares, which is rather modest for the region, and is located in the northern extension of Saint-Emilion, on the right bank of the Barbanne river. The Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion wine appellation is included in the Montagne vineyards, in the Montagne-Saint-Emilion appellation. Winegrowers have the choice of claiming either of these appellations. Production in this appellation is limited to around 8,800 hectolitres per year.

Adjoining Saint-Emilion to the north, the Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion appellation has the particularity of having clay-limestone soils of a very homogeneous composition throughout its wine-growing zone. These soils rest on a layer of pure, porous limestone. A veritable sponge, this limestone substrate returns water to the vines with regularity, even during very dry summers. In addition, the gentle slope of the land ensures perfect drainage of the vineyard. The geography of the production area ensures a southern exposure, providing generous sunshine for optimal grape ripening.

Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion wines are red, made from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes grown on clay-limestone soils. On the palate, the wines are tannic and powerful, with a certain roundness provided by Merlot, the main grape variety in the blend. The tannins, derived from its partner Cabernet Franc, are particularly pleasant. They are present, but very fine and coated. These same tannins give Saint-Georges Saint-Emillion an excellent ageing capacity, just like Château Tour du Pas Saint-Georges.

"Characterful bouquet, well inspired by its terroir, with chalky nuances as well as blueberry and blackberry notes, followed by tobacco leaves. Juicy character on the palate, with chalky notes. The wine is racy, lively and well supported by its acid structure and perfectly integrated tannins. What energy and precision in this wine. A great success. (Yves Beck 2020)

"Great wine with character!"

"Subtly fruity, Cap St-George's bouquet also reveals hints of tobacco and pepper. Its terroir gives it a refreshing tension with an incisive, juicy edge. What character! A wine to follow as it evolves. Beautiful tannic structure". (Yves Beck 2021) - Delivery in wooden case for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).
