"The 2018 Mâcon-Pierreclos Tri de Chavigne reveals itself brilliantly, relaxing in the glass with notes of citrus oil, crisp Anjou pear, blanched almonds, white flowers and nutmeg. Medium- to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's strikingly intense, with an elegant textural attack and racy acidity. Still tightly wound after its recent bottling, this wine has a long and glorious future ahead of it. This cuvée was made from three harvests spread over 12 days at the high-altitude farms of Guffens au Chavigne, and aged in barrels, of which around 30% were new." Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

5-star rated estates (Outstanding producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About the domain :

Jean-Marie Guffens may have inspired many artisan winemakers in the Mâconnais region, but he remains the artist capable of producing a "simple" Mâcon worthy of the finest Côte d'Or wines, without adhering to the "terroir-caisse" system.A master of fractional vertical pressing of very ripe grapes, an adept at prolonged fermentation and a genius at ageing, an elite taster, this outstanding winemaker continues to produce on his small Mâcon estate quantities that are already too small to satisfy international demand.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wines is always a magical experience)

About the domain :

Jean-Marie Guffens has mastered the art of vinifying and sublimating Chardonnay. Tasting one of his cuvées, even after ten years, is always a great moment. He divides his time between the haute-couture vinifications of this estate, the management of his negoce Verget, his property Château des Tourettes in the Luberon and Château Closiot, in Barsac, where he makes great dry and sweet wines when the year allows. He has revealed the potential of the best terroirs in the Mâconnais region and raised interest in them. His great wines are unanimously acclaimed, stand the test of time and impress. The very low yields of the 2019 vintage meant that only three wines could be made; the presses will be found in the Triangle cuvée. The estate's wines are sold en primeur. Our advice is to try your luck, while not forgetting to take an interest in the other properties of this exceptional winemaker.
