Robert Parker
"A very refined Chardonnay with a ripe honeysuckle nose. The vintage is criticized but shows beautiful balance here, coming from a very ripe harvest. Its oak is well integrated and gives subtle toasted notes that lengthen the finish. A great wine for fine dining." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2021 - RVF)

Bettane & Desseauve
5-star estate (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the estate:
Jean-Marie Guffens has inspired many artisan winemakers in the Mâconnais region, and remains today an artist capable of producing a "simple" Mâcon wine worthy of the finest wines of the Côte d'Or, without adhering to the "terroir-caisse" system. He is a master of fractional pressing using a vertical press on very ripe grapes, a proponent of prolonged fermentation and a genius at aging. An elite taster, this outstanding winemaker continues to produce quantities on his small Mâconnais estate that are already too small to satisfy international demand.

Wine rating (2014 guide) 90/100 (Outstanding wine)
Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
The 2013 Saint-Véran "Cuvée Unique" has a well-defined bouquet with aromas of lime blossom, lemon sorbet, and yellow thyme that unfold in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp acidity intertwined with vibrant citrus notes, leading to a lively and taut finish with subtle marine influences. A very fine wine.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 17,5/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About wine:
A very refined Chardonnay with a ripe honeysuckle nose. The vintage is often criticized, but here it shows beautiful balance, thanks to a very ripe harvest. Its oak is well integrated and adds subtle toasted notes that lengthen the finish. A great wine for fine dining.
About the estate:
Jean-Marie Guffens has mastered the art of vinifying and enhancing Chardonnay. Tasting one of his vintages, even after ten years, is always a memorable experience. He divides his time between the haute couture winemaking of this estate, managing his Verget wine merchant business, his Château des Tourettes property in the Luberon, and Château Closiot in Barsac, where he produces great dry and sweet wines when the year allows. He has revealed the potential of the best terroirs in the Mâconnais region and developed interest in them. His great wines are universally acclaimed, stand the test of time and impress. The very low yields of the 2019 vintage meant that only three wines could be produced, with the presses going into the Triangle cuvée. The estate's wines are sold en primeur. Our advice is to try your luck, while not forgetting to take an interest in the other properties of this exceptional winemaker.
