Domaine Jacques Prieur
The history of Domaine Jacques Prieur dates back to the 19th century. Originally, Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau founded a wine trading company. In 1879, they began a winegrowing business, starting with the acquisition of "Les Herbeux" in Meursault, now the heart of Domaine Jacques Prieur, and vineyard land. Having no direct heirs, Claude Duvergey bequeathed his entire estate to Jacques Prieur, son of Marie Taboureau's niece, in 1920.

Co-founder of the Chevaliers du Tastevin, Jacques Prieur gave his name to the 1956 estate. He died in 1965 and his wife in 1974, leaving the company equally to their 6 children. In 1988, five families joined forces to prevent Domaine Jacques Prieur from falling into the hands of foreign shareholders, including the Labruyère family, winegrowers from the Mâcon region.

Since its creation, Domaine Jacques Prieur has continued to grow and develop, notably with the acquisition of new Grands Crus parcels such as Corton-Bressandes and Corton-Charlemagne in the 1990s.
Today, the Labruyère family, supported by Martin Prieur (grandson of Jacques Prieur), works passionately to represent Burgundy's exceptional terroirs to the world.

Domaine Jacques Prieur - Clos de Vougeot 2013

16,5/20 Bettane & Desseauve

"Jacques Prieur's Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2013 presents a nicely defined bouquet, the woodiness gracefully embroidered in raspberry and forest fruit, even a slight scent of lavender makes an appearance after a few minutes. The palate is medium-bodied, with chewy tannins on the attack. It's balanced and edgy towards the finish, with a lingering hint of spice. Good." (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker)

Domaine Jacques Prieur - Corton Grand Cru Bressandes 2013

90-92/100 Robert Parker

-

17,5/20 Bettane & Desseauve

"The 2013 Corton Bressandes Grand Cru is a blend of young and old vines (11 barrels, half of them new) and, fortunately, was not affected by hail. It's a fragrant wine, with a rather floral bouquet that shows more purity than some of the other crus. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and good acidity, and the new wood is very well integrated into the finish. Very good." (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker)

87-89/100 Robert Parker

"The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru presents a lively floral bouquet on dried violet petal infused in a little black fruit with just a touch of black tea. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, a nice nervousness, and showing a slight attenuation on the finish." (Wine Advocate 2013 - Robert Parker)

Domaine Jacques Prieur - Musigny Grand Cru 2011

95/100 Robert Parker

"Jacques Prieur's Musigny 2011 shows more red fruit on the nose than on the other Chambolle Amoureuses and Musigny 2011s, which show more blue fruit. It's nicely defined, perhaps a little earthier than its peers, with a hint of meatiness developing in the glass, followed by wild heather and broom. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple, ripe, quite toasty tannins. There's impressive depth here, even if not quite finesse on the finish. Still, this is a very fine wine, and here tasted blind, it outshines some of the biggest names." (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker)

Domaine Jacques Prieur - Montrachet Grand Cru 2013

18,5/20 Bettane & Desseauve

-

93-95/100 Robert Parker

"The 2013 Montrachet Grand Cru comes from Jacques Prieur's two parcels and was harvested on October 3, the same day as the Chevalier-Montrachet. Ten barrels were produced, nine of them new. The nose is fuller than the Chevalier, with roundness and generosity. The palate is crisp and balanced, displaying more depth than the Chevalier and with a long, spicy finish." (Wine Advocate 2014 - Robert Parker)

"Creamy, dense and with a bouncy finish, it's already very good". (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France) Surprisingly aromatic with mineral and floral notes, the 1er Cru Les Combettes is coated and has a lively, fresh finish. A very successful white in a complex vintage!
