"100/100 from Wine Enthusiast and 99/100 from James Suckling: Napa Valley biodynamics at the top of its game!"

"An exquisite wine that relies primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon from a single estate. Aromas of lavender, dried herbs and grapefruit pith combine with firm fruit and cocoa flavors on a structure of abundant, powder-fine tannins and a mouthwatering finish. This wine is refined, detailed and delicious, with as much elegance as energy. Expert opinion

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Rated (guide 2024) 96/100 (Extraordinary wine)

About the wine:

Marked by aromas of cherry and raspberry, with just a hint of cedar and mocha-tinged oak, the fruity Quintessa 2021 is wonderfully soft and supple on the palate. It's medium to full-bodied, suave and silky, full of class and elegance, with no sense of excessive volume or rusticity. If one were to complain about this wine (which is unlikely), one would say it's almost too polished, too elegant, too easy to drink. 2024-2040

Wine rated (guide 2024) 18.5++/20

About the wine:

Deep ruby, almost crimson color. Young, with dense aromas of blackberry and violet and a subtle character of orange peel and spices. Ripe and viscous on the palate, with high, sticky tannins lining the mouth and very fresh acidity. Incredibly concentrated, this wine should last a long time. Long finish. A wine absolutely to reserve for a special occasion or perfect to keep for a 2021 vintage birth. 2028-2045

James Suckling

Wine rated (guide 2024 ) 99/100

About the wine:

Lots of graphite and volcanic character on the nose, with metal shavings and gunpowder. Black ink, iron and rust too. Blackberry and cassis nuances. Full-bodied but not overly so, with juicy, chewy tannins that are long and very subtle. Superb finish. Made from Demeter-certified biodynamic grapes. 91% cabernet sauvignon, 4% cabernet franc, 3% carmenere, 1% merlot and 1% petit verdot. Drink now, but better in 2027.

Wine rated (guide 2024) 98/100

About the wine:

Quintessa 2021 offers pure aromas of blue fruit, spring flowers, violets and spicy oak, with a beautiful mineral and chalky note that comes through even more on the palate. It's elegant, full-bodied, with very fine tannins, good acidity and remarkable length. This is another magnificent wine that will evolve for over 15 years. 2024-2039
