" Favorite for this Meunier worked in Organic, with a beautiful typicity!"

"Harvested in 2019 from the Sablons plot, a meunier with a delicate nose of acacia, lemon and white fruit. Its vinification (blocked malolactic fermentation) and lack of dosage exalt its freshness in harmony with citrus aromas. With a hint of bitterness on the finish, it has all the hallmarks of a brut nature, with a distinguished edge". (Le Guide Hachette 2024).

About the wine:

Harvested in 2019 from the Sablons plot, a meunier with a delicate nose of acacia, lemon and white fruit. With a hint of bitterness on the finish, it has all the hallmarks of a brut nature, with a distinguished edge.

About the domain :

In 2000, Ludovic and Sandie Durdon took over the family estate in the Marne valley from three generations. Managing 7.5 hectares, they have undertaken the organic conversion of 3 ha of vines; certification was obtained in 2013 for the Chardonnay and in 2015 for the Pinots, with biodynamic certification in 2023. Since 2021, a press and a new vathouse have enabled the estate to carry out all the vinification previously entrusted to the local cooperative.

About the domain :

The family estate has just welcomed its fifth generation of winemakers in the presence of Antoine, the owners' son. With vineyards located in Vincelles and Barzy, in the heart of the Marne Valley, the estate owns just over 6 hectares. The Chardonnay is grown using certified organic methods, and the two Pinots are in the process of obtaining certification. The wines are aged partly in barrels and partly in vats, then left to mature in the cellar for many years. This estate offers excellent quality across the range, and also welcomes you to its gîte to discover its wines and vineyard. A new parcel-based cuvée, "Les Sablons", is now available.

I expected better for the price, too much acidity on the finish for my taste.

Clear colour. Very fine bubbles. After a straightforward attack, the lively, airy palate displays a definite finesse of medium-acid yellow fruits, enhanced by discreet notes of lime blossom and subtle smokiness. A fleeting iodized finish. High price. In the same vein of Pure Meunier, I prefer Champagnes Moutardier's Brut Nature cuvée, which is more tender, sapid and refined. Tested at 10° with friends, with Fine de Claire Marennes Oléron oysters au gratin in the oven, and Saint Brieu scallops pan-fried in champagne, to be enjoyed from the start of the season. Fine, but no more sensational than that. Score of 3.8.
