Tenuta Il Palagio 2022 Chianti When We Dance (made from certified organic Sangiovese and a small amount of Canaiolo and Colorino) is lively and punchy, with aromas of candied cherry and redcurrant that leap out of the glass. No barrel aging is carried out. The easygoing character of Sangiovese is perfect for pairing with gnocchi in a creamy cheese sauce. Despite its very elegant presentation, I remain somewhat skeptical about this Chianti with its smooth, juicy, and lively profile, featuring intense flavors of bright red fruits underscored by pronounced acidity. Present and fine tannins accompany the vibrant finish marked by minerality. I would have appreciated a little more body and substance. Ultimately, it's a little expensive for what it is. Convivial and easy to drink with a generous plate of spaghetti carbonara sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Rating = 3.8.
