Chianti
Visit "Denominazione di origine controllata e garantita (DOCG) Chiantirecognized in 1984, symbolizes the viticultural excellence of Tuscany, in the heart of Italy, bordered by the Tyrrhenian Sea. This distinction, awarded to wines from certain Tuscan provinces including Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Pistoia, Pisa and Prato, highlights a unique terroir. The Chianti denomination may be accompanied by local specificities such as Colli Aretini, Colli Fiorentini, Colli Senesi, Colline Pisane, Montalbano and Rùfina. The ChiantiThis prestigious red wine is a blend of sangiovese, the region's king grape variety, enriched with mammolo, canaiolo and trebbiano. The Chianti is distinguished by a landscape of rolling green hills, dotted with vineyards and olive groves, where winemakers masterfully exploit the climatic complexity of the Tuscan hills. The wines of Chianti can be identified by their traditional bottle, the fiasque, with its rounded shape, while the Chianti Riserva, after three years' ageing in oak barrels, are presented in Bordeaux-style bottles. Since 1996, the Chianti Classico is distinguished by stricter criteria, forbidding blending with white grape varieties, an excellence embodied by the productions of Domaine Malenchini and Domaine Antinori.

Chianti, terroir wine

Italian Chianti emanates from a land rich in history and tradition, shaped by centuries and the cradle of exceptional expertise. It's a mosaic of medieval villages, nestled among vineyards, in a landscape of varying altitudes, clay-limestone, bathed in light, offering panoramas of pictorial beauty, where each village resonates with a lyrical melody. Tuscany, with its provinces of Siena, Florence, Pisa, Prado, Arezzo and Pistoia, is home to the world-famous red wine: Chianti.

Chianti, an exceptional wine

At the crossroads of Greve, Radda, Castellina and Gaiole, the beating heart of Chianti wine in Tuscany, exceptional vineyards benefit from generous sunshine. Chianti Classico, the flagship of Italian Chianti wine, benefits from a protected designation of origin, the oldest in the world. This blend, predominantly Sangiovese and Merlot, is made according to a centuries-old tradition, enriched with raisin must for optimal fermentation, known as il governo. This method, along with the co-planting of grape varieties according to their proportion in the blend, contributes to Chianti 's reputation as one of Italy's finest wines.

Chianti, a distinctive Italian wine

Chianti, with its emblematic Fiasco bottle, combines roundness and elegance thanks to Tuscany's ideal terroir and climate. Ruby-red in color, it releases floral aromas, offering a dry, balanced taste that softens with age. The ideal companion to Italian meals, Chianti goes perfectly with red meats, game or rustic cheeses, especially when aged or in the Riserva version, and can be enjoyed at room temperature, revealing all the richness of its terroir.

"A delicious, accessible Chianti from Sting that will have your palate dancing!

"The Tenuta Il Palagio 2022 Chianti When We Dance (made from certified organic sangiovese and a tiny portion of canaiolo and colorino) is lively and punchy, with candied cherry and redcurrant aromas that come out nicely from the glass. No barrel aging is used. The easy Sangiovese character is perfect for gnocchi in a creamy cheese sauce. The finish is quite lean but fresh, with dry, mineral notes on the finish."
