Rosso di Montalcino
Rosso di Montalcino is a red wine produced in the commune of Montalcino, in the Tuscany region of central Italy. The production area for Rosso di Montalcino is located in the village of Montalcino, about 40 kilometers from the sea and 100 kilometers from the Apennines. The climate is Mediterranean, mild and sunny. The vineyards are protected from violent climatic phenomena by the Amiata mountain to the south.

Rosso di Montalcino has held the official DOC (denominazione di origine controllata) designation since 1983. The specifications for Rosso di Montalcino are similar to those of its "big brother", Brunello di Montalcino, with the exclusive use of Sangiovese grapes. This red wine is less complex than its older sibling, requiring less ageing, yet remaining full-bodied. It is considered a lively wine, combining freshness and structure.
