Château Mas Neuf
Château Mas Neuf has been owned by Luc Baudet since 2000. Located at the gateway to the Camargue, the Château Mas Neuf estate covers 62 hectares of vines, managed with the utmost rigor. Luc Baudet has mastered his terroir, extracting the very best from it and elevating Château Mas Neuf to the top three estates in the Costières de Nîmes appellation, whose cuvées are among the best deals in the south of France.

The plots, located mid-slope on the southernmost slopes of Costières de Nîmes, benefit from sunshine similar to that found in Languedoc or Provence, and the proximity of ponds and the sea brings mild thermal winds from the Mediterranean. The vines grow on highly leached brown fersiallitic soils, with a high concentration of Durancian and Rhodanian pebbles. The disparities in soil depth and composition form micro-terroirs of different expression, exacerbated by differentiated work in the vineyard. Luc Baudet and his team have chosen to magnify the exceptional potential of the Château Mas Neuf vineyard by working on all the key points that make a great Costières de Nîmes wine: the vineyard first, and extreme care in the cellar.

(2012 vintage notes)

The result of a meeting between the various members of the domaine, the Rhône Paradox cuvée is an invitation to conviviality. This gourmet wine stands out for its freshness, despite the ripeness of its fruit aromas. A gourmet wine, it's the perfect accompaniment to a wide variety of summer grills.

Château Mas Neuf - Avec des Si... 2007

Note: Gault Millau 16/20, Bettane & Desseauve 15/20
"A very surprising cuvée combining finesse, minerality, power and character. The nose is compoté, marked by brandy fruit, violets and a touch of menthol, showing a certain crispness. A beautiful and delicious alchemy". (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2012 - Gault Millau). Avec des Si... comes from an old parcel of Syrah called "la Butte", on a terroir giving the vines a moderate water supply. This cuvée has all the characteristics of the great southern Syrahs. Black fruits (blackberry) dominate, with a lovely woodiness bringing notes of sweet spices (nutmeg) and licorice...

Château Mas Neuf - Rhône Paradox 2010 Rosé

Note : Gault Millau 15/20
"A wine with an assertive southern flavor; with, on the nose, a beautiful expressive palette of red fruits and floral nuances. The whole is an enchantment that doesn't lack volume, with a fruity, fruity length." (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2012 - Gault Millau). Rhône Paradox rosé boasts exceptional fruit, a quality that has become its signature over the years. Born south of the Costières, it is expressive, evoking a basket of fresh fruit (apricot, cherry, pear) mingling with hints of white flowers. The palate is greedy and lively, literally exploding with red berries such as wild strawberry and raspberry. A wine that's always balanced and fresh, for immediate pleasure !

Rhône Paradox blanc is a harmonious blend of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. Once again this year, this wine expresses freshness and gourmet aromas. It reveals unrestrained aromas of fresh fruit (yellow peach, pear) combined with notes of white flowers. A good fullness supported by a fresh, invigorating finish underline the whole. Superb!

Note : Gault Millau 16/20
"This complex wine opens with aromas of ripe red fruit (raspberry, cherry, blackberry), supported by empyreumatic and spicy notes. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, with expressive yet elegant tannins. A long finish for an attractive wine for laying down". (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2012 - Gault Millau). Mourvèdre and Grenache (hence the name?) express themselves equally in this cuvée: the former brings its typical cocoa aromas and structure, the latter its red fruit notes and fullness. The whole is straightforward, rich, complex and uncompromising. A remarkable wine, a true exercise in style!

Luc Baudet
produces this prestige cuvée from old vines on the southern slopes of the Costières, which is the most accomplished possible expression of the appellation's terroir. Compostelle rouge 2007 stands out for its intense aromas of black cherry, fig and clove, its substance and smoothness, supported by a fine tannic structure. An aromatic palette of quality and appreciation!

Château Mas Neuf - Armonio 2006

Note : Bettane & Desseauve 14,5/20
Luc Baudet and Louis Mitjavile, exceptional winemakers at Tertre Roteboeuf (Saint-Émilion) and Roc de Cambe (Côtes de Bourg), worked together to create this cuvée. An intense nose, revealing notes of roasted, black fruit (blackberry, blueberry) and graphite, an ample and unctuous palate, with a freshness that excludes any heaviness. A very fine bottle!

Château Mas Neuf - Compostelle 2010 Rosé

Note: Bettane & Desseauve 14/20
"Lively, fresh rosé, beautifully fruity, with notes of crushed strawberry and white flowers, and plenty of freshness on the finish" (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2012 - Bettane & Desseauve). Compostelle Rosé is the estate's gastronomic rosé, as stunning and fresh with delicate dishes as it is drunk on its own to savor its bouquet of wild red fruits (wild strawberries, raspberries) and white flowers. The palate expresses freshness with citrus and floral notes. A lovely table rosé!

Only 3,000 bottles of Compostelle blanc are produced from plots of land where the grapes ripen slowly but optimally, on very filtering Villefranchian pebble soils. Its genesis also includes several months in barrels from the Sauternes region, in particular Château d'Yquem. It opens with aromas of sweet spices (bourbon vanilla), and shows roundness, freshness and a beautiful aromatic complexity combining citrus fruits and white flowers. An elegant, charming white that's ready to drink now!

Château Mas Neuf - Tradition Rouge 2007

3.6/5 (8 reviews)

This red Tradition 2007 is surely the best produced by the estate. Generosity and gourmandise are the key words that describe this cuvée, for which it should be pointed out that it has spent time in barrels of grands crus classés (Smith Haut Lafitte, Lafite Rothschild, Pape Clément). The nose is reminiscent of redcurrant and wild strawberry, while the palate charms with its balance of density and freshness, resulting in great elegance, punctuated by a taut finish with beautifully crafted tannins. A great classic from a great vintage!

This cuvée Mas Neuf Tradition blanc 2008, a harmonious blend of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, is one of the South Rhône's superb bargains.
