Bettane & Desseauve

(2018 vintage notes)

A rare delicacy, this cuvée is made from emblematic Languedoc grape varieties: Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. It's a concentrate of black fruits and spices, worked in whole grains to preserve fruitiness and freshness. Pleasant and fruity, the palate is round and accessible in its youth, with a spicy finish and peppery notes. Pure pleasure with character!

Expert opinion

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated (2020 guide) 16/20 (Vintage 2018) (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Christophe Bousquet is very much in tune with nature on his terroir, which is sparsely watered by rainfall but which we consider to be the highest quality in La Clape. On the heights of Gruissan just outside Narbonne, a kilometer from the Mediterranean, with its 30 hectares grazed by ewes in winter and run in certified organic fashion, Pech-Redon has long been making the best, freshest and most complex wines in the La Clape area. A visit to the white wines, particularly la-centaurée, is a must. In the reds, la-centaurée stands apart in absolute style, a wine of reflection with very fine tannins, less greedy than les-cades or l'épervier. Christophe is increasingly giving pride of place to Mourvèdre, which is particularly happy here because it sees the sea. The 2017 reds are a great success, and 2018, tasted while still maturing, will not be inferior.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

A winding road leads to the highest point of the La Clape massif, the Coffre de Pech-Redon, which gives its name to the estate, located in the heart of the natural park. Christophe Bousquet has been cultivating his 30 ha of organically-farmed vines here since 1988.

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

Christophe Bousquet is a dynamic, determined winegrower who fights hard (sometimes in the face of adversity) to promote La Clape, a maritime area (it's a former island) with great potential. He has made the agronomic choice of organic viticulture, and has progressively refined his vinifications and ageings, bringing his cuvées, once robust and generous in alcohol, towards more nuanced and balanced expressions. These are wines with a strong character, rooted in their territory, and structured within a range that is now very coherent. This magnificent work, carried out in Homeric conditions, in a site that is on the front line in the face of heatwaves and droughts, richly deserves the star we are awarding in this edition of the Green Guide.
