About the domain :

Domaine du Pas de l'Escalette has 20 hectares of biodynamic vines, planted on terraces with low dry-stone walls known as "clapas". It is perched at an altitude of 350 m in the Larzac foothills. Julien Zernott and Delphine Rousseau settled here in 2003. With the help of the intense biodiversity of the surrounding area and the exclusive use of organic products, they work the vineyard in a way that respects nature.

Wine rated (guide 2024) La Revue du Vin de France July-August 2024

Domaine rated (guide 2025) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

This is the cuvée that opens the range, an essential red to be served straight from the bottle. Ample and sapid, its fruity juice and clean tannins are silky and full of energy.

About the domain :

Located to the north-west of the Terrasses du Larzac, in the beautiful area of Pégairolles de l'Escale and Lauroux, this 20-hectare estate has been owned by Julien and Delphine Zernott since 2003. The vineyard comprises some fifty terraces on limestone scree, with a high proportion of very old vines. This terroir is in good hands with this talented and determined couple. While the whites confirm their great elegance, all the reds presented this year are of the highest order, graceful, with exemplary tactile management and ageing.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 27/07/2024

The 2022 vintage of Les Petits Pas was a veritable bomb of explosive fruit. In 2023, the aromatic trio of tart red berries, exotic spices and discreet woodiness still works well, as the wine remains mischievous, but it is much less exuberant, a little less voluble. The palate is clean and slender, with a lively freshness, a pulpy, crisp texture, fine, supple tannins and a light, refreshing finish. In my opinion, an interesting wine, but somewhat overpriced for a buddy wine. A good compromise, ultra-sapid and easy to digest, for an impromptu aperitif with friends around a platter of hard cheeses. Score = 3.8.
