"Produced by direct pressing and aged in barrels, Yannick Amirault's 2022 Rosé d'Equinoxe (made exclusively from Cabernet Franc) exudes a fresh and lively bouquet with aromas of flowers, peach, citrus, star anise, red berries, and spices, followed by a taut and energetic palate that is juicy and fresh, with a delicate, long, and penetrating finish. The acidity, which underpins the whole, is vibrant and racy." (Wine Advocate 2023)

Wine rated 90/100
Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
Benoît arrived at the family estate in Bourgueil in 2003 to continue the family adventure started by his father Yannick in 1997. Two-thirds of the vineyard is located in Bourgueil, with the rest in the neighboring Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation. You can sense the winemakers' perfectionism and their desire to express the terroir through very silky and civilized Cabernet Franc wines that retain their vibrant fruitiness. The estate has been certified organic since 2009 and the wines are gaining in purity every year thanks to increasingly precise vinification methods (conical wooden vats, barrels and stoneware jars). The 2022 and 2023 vintages delight us with their frank, clear expression and finesse.

A surprising discovery, this rosé bucks the current trend for rosés. While retaining plenty of freshness, the palate remains well balanced with a slightly vinous density and an appealing roundness. The texture is satiny, slightly buttery, imbued with aromas of tangy English candy, enveloped by delicate floral notes. The finish is elegant, with increasing mineral intensity. This rosé is the ultimate gastronomic wine, racy and hedonistic. It is best reserved for refined dishes, such as roasted scallops with fresh green asparagus cream. Rating = 4.1.
