Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 16.5/20 (Reference wine)
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
Intense black fruit, the subtle yet assertive aromatic palette unfolds floral notes, aromatic herbs, blueberry fruit paste and burlat cherry. Complex, with a dense body enhanced by a straightforward, lively freshness, this beautiful red will stand the test of time with gusto.
About the domain :
Situated on the hill of Séoules, in the hills above Nice at an altitude of almost 300 meters, the terraced vineyards benefit from the sea spray that tempers the summer heat. Having vinified 47 vintages and established the reputation of the Bellet appellation, Ghislain de Charnacé sold his 12-hectare vineyard in 2014 to the property management company La Française REM (which also owns other vineyards). Considerable resources were deployed to restructure the vineyard, under the leadership, since summer 2018, of Jean de Laître, a talented master winemaker also present in the Bordeaux region. An ultra-functional winery at the foot of the old chapel now enables us to vinify as closely as possible to the terroir. A new style is emerging, with a reorganization of the range into three levels (entry-level, vins de terroirs and cuvées d'exception agnès), promising a bright future for this historic estate. The latest vintages demonstrate this welcome change of direction.

Le Figaro vins
Wine rated (2019 guide) 16.5/20
About the wine:
This cuvée, dominated by the Folle noire grape variety, is bursting with fruit and juiciness. Intense and aromatic, the palate is juicy and greedy, yet elegant. A must-try.

all that's missing are the cicadas, the sun and a plate of Sisteron lamb in front of you!
