In white, L'Instant shines with both liveliness and freshness, particularly appreciated in summertime. Produced from organically grown grapes, like all the estate's cuvées, it expresses aromas of grapefruit, pear and pineapple. The red thread of the domaine, its finesse deserves to be highlighted. Château Barbanau
Côtes de Provence
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
This family estate, which covers two appellations, Cassis and Côtes de Provence, is now run by the friendly, dynamic couple Sophie and Didier Simonini-Cerciello. On their 32 hectares of vineyards, including 7 hectares in Cassis called Clos Val Bruyère, they work with exemplary viticulture, certified biodynamic since 2018. As a result, the vines and soil shine and the surrounding area abounds in exemplary biodiversity, even for an organic estate. The wines are crisp and well-designed, with, in the Cassis appellation, that saline touch that so characterizes this terroir. The cuvée blanc kalahari, whose name was inspired by the couple's love of Botswana, is well worth the trip: it's one of the estate's most interesting and original wines.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2020) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Émile Bodin created Clos Val Bruyère in 1889. A century later, Sophie, his great-granddaughter, and her parents took over the few hectares of vines inherited and revived the Clos. In the same year, they acquired Ch. Barbanau, 23 hectares of vines located at the westernmost point of the Côtes-de-Provence appellation, at an altitude of 360 m. Today, Sophie and her husband Didier are at the helm of this château and have been producing Biodyvin-certified biodynamic wines since the 2018 vintage.
