"A great Northern Rhône wine!

"Deep garnet-red with a tawny disk, the color announces a welcome evolution. On the nose, notes of hyacinth mingle with fragrances of red fruit crumble, buttered brioche and cumin of confounding delicacy. The charm continues on the suave, ample and silky palate, served by a deliciously spicy woodiness and fine tannins that carry through to a noble bitter finish. Absolute class for this Cornas, just a breath away from Favorite." (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Rated wine (guide 2022) 95/100

About the wine:

The nose is marked by blackberry and black cherry yoghurt. The palate is characterized by ripe tannins and good acidity. It's concentrated but not heavy, with appreciable impact and concentration, and a long finish. The acidity really drives it forward. The alcohol is well balanced and the wine is not too oaky. Strict, chiseled Cornas tannins. Very classic. Sauman, Combes, Les Côtes, Mazards, Cayret, Patou, Les Eygats, Champelrose. Aged 14 months in 4-year-old barrels.

About the domain :

Since setting up in business in 1994, Stéphane Robert, who does not come from a wine-growing background, has established himself as a benchmark in the northern crus landscape. He has created his own vineyard from scratch, now covering 11 hectares, with vines in Cornas, Saint Joseph, Saint Péray and Condrieu. The vineyards run alongside an old railroad line and a 160 m tunnel, still visible today, which gives the estate its name and in which a new winery and ageing cellar were built in 2013.

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

Stéphane Robert runs his estate with brio, crafting modern, precise wines that are setting new standards in the Saint-Péray and Cornas appellations. These cuvées revive the sometimes rustic, sun-drenched style of these two small appellations. Stéphane brings to his opaque Syrahs a touch of refinement earned through precise grape ripening, extraction and ageing. The wines also age very well.

About the wine:

The Cornas 2021 performed incredibly well, offering more ripeness and texture than virtually any other Cornas in existence. The nose reveals aromas of ripe blackberries, spicy herbs and earth. The wine is medium-bodied, with tremendous mid-palate depth and ripe tannins. This cuvée comes from a blend of terroirs and will spend 14 months in old barrels.
