"The 2017 Costières de Nîmes Lou Coucardié reminds me a little of a classic old-school Bandol with its ripe, seductive and incredibly fleshy profile. Loaded with fruit and offering plenty of spicy meat, garrigue, pepper and new saddle leather aromas, as well as full-bodied richness, soft tannins and a great finish, this is one hell of a Costières de Nîmes. It can be drunk now, but it has enough tannin to justify short cellaring and should evolve nicely for more than a decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Costières de Nîmes
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
About the wine:
Very fine expression of the Roussannes and Grenache grapes, a full-bodied wine blending white flowers with sweet spices.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated 90-92/100 (Wonderful wine)
Domaine noté Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Costières de Nîmes Lou Coucardié 2017 is composed of 50% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache and 20% Syrah, which will spend two full years in 500- and 600-liter demi-muids. Aromas of dried spices and cola accentuate the bright berries on the nose of this full-bodied, supple wine, which becomes velvety but remains slightly open on the long finish.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine noté Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list, and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
With a great deal of pragmatism and sound principles, Michel Gassier restructured the vineyard and gave himself the means to produce white and red wines. The prestige cuvées named Joseph Torrès express themselves fully after one to three years in bottle, while the other wines can be enjoyed from their earliest youth.
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2022) 91/100
About the wine:
Intense, balsamic nose with a touch of leather and ash for this powerful, rather uncompromising southern red with lots of character. A very solid tannic base with a voluminous finish. A Mourvèdre-based blend. Made from organically grown grapes. For drinking or cellaring.

Toro La Brava or 4x4 Dodge RAM 5.7? What's certain is that, from the moment of contact, lift-off is carried away by a powerful acceleration that propels the svelte, racy palate, without being massive or brutal, into a complex whirlwind of infused black and red fruits, mixed with spices and sprinkled with succulent notes of garrigue, bourbon vanilla and leather that bear witness to meticulous ageing. It then purrs into a rich, pulpy mid-palate thanks to a full, deep body, supported by a fleshy texture and refined tannins. The power continues into a long, sapid, seductive finish, softened by a touch of freshness. An outstanding Costières that's going to get even better, because it's got a lot going for it. To celebrate St. Mary's Day with the family, enjoy with a marinated kid cooked slowly on a spit, to appreciate the delicate mellowness and delicious smokiness of the meat on the palate. Score 4.5.
