Made from the estate's oldest vines, Crozes Hermitage Cuvée Gaby 2020 is full-bodied, silky and rich, with woody notes, bold flavors of peppery cherries, a velvety-textured finish and ample length. A real beauty! Best left to age for a few more years.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
A classic estate in the Mercurol area, regularly producing supple wines for early drinking. The gaby cuvée is often more ambitious, sometimes with woody notes that are a little too pronounced in certain vintages with little substance. The reds here are more successful than the whites, as confirmed by our tasting of the 2017s.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (guide 2022) 89+/100 (Very good wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
The cedar and spices of the ageing process accentuate the blackberry and cherry fruit on the nose of Crozes Hermitage Cuvée Gaby 2020. The wood contains the fruit, squeezing the palate into a streamlined shape and limiting the wine's current appeal. The bet is that it will behave like previous vintages and emerge from its current cocoon into something sweeter and more beautiful.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Located in Mercurol, the domaine proudly flies the flag for the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, of which it is one of the best, especially for the more ambitious and complex Gaby cuvées.

Beautiful expression of Syrah on this 2020 with a fine, structured profile, in contrast to the more muscular character of previous vintages. Soft, already melted tannins enhance a complex coulis of black cherry and plum, blueberry and blackberry, complemented by sweet spices on an earthy, vanilla background. On the palate, the aromatic richness is extended by a fine volume and a dense, suave structure with a delicious unctuousness, while the spices, particularly the peppery ones, return at full gallop in the finish enhanced by a hint of graphite. This is a well-made wine with potential. After decanting, Gaby looked great alongside a shoulder of Sisteron suckling lamb confit with honey and thyme at the family's May 1st meal. Score = 4.4.
