(Wine Advocate - Joe Czerwinski)

Ventoux
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated domain (2022 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
This three-generation family-run business produces a wide range of well-structured wines on some 70 hectares of land, in a modern, ambitious style that makes it one of Ventoux's "must-haves". Today managed by Frédéric and Alexandre Chaudière, the vineyard features nine grape varieties grown on gravelly clay-limestone slopes at an altitude of 300 meters. The wines are vinified with tact.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated domain (2023 guide) Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)
About the domain :
Acquired in 1970 by Odette and René Bastide, this vast 100-hectare estate, with its consistent quality, has been run since 2003 by the third generation (Frédéric and Alexandre Chaudière). The entire vineyard is certified organic and in the process of being converted to biodynamic viticulture.

Vin noté (guide 2020) 92-94/100 (Vin formidable)
Rated domain (2021 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine :
Silica 2018, the second vintage of this cuvée, is 90% Grenache from sandy soils, and 70% was aged in demi-muids, while the rest was aged in concrete eggs. It is richer and fuller than the 2017, harmoniously blending notes of vanilla and cedar with ripe raspberries. It's full-bodied, creamy-textured, finishing rich, chewy and long, with licorice notes adding further interest. It should age for a decade or more.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated domain (2023 guide) Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list, and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
he story of this estate began in the 1970s, when the Chaudière grandparents restored the château and part of the vineyard. Paul and Edith then provided the impetus by leaving the cooperative and favoring terroir selection. Since 2000, their children Frédéric and Alexandre have overseen the destiny of this vast vineyard. We have been seduced by the stylistic shift in the wines: they have really gained in finesse and sapidity, and represent the freshness of the terroir with dignity.

Vin noté (guide 2019) 92-94/100
About the wine :
On a base of 90% Grenache and 10% Cinsault, all from sandy soils, Silica 2018 was aged mainly in demi-muids. Kirsch, ground herbs, white pepper, graphite and garrigue notes transport us to a medium- to full-bodied Grenache with plenty of typicity, without harshness, great purity and a lovely finish.
